The US Navy (US Navy) has been developing welland canal in recent weeks, aero-naval exercises involving two nuclear aircraft carrier USS George Washigton welland canal and USS John Stennis and respective support groups.
So far nothing new, unless the particularity of these are taking place in the China Sea, an area of particularly sensitive globe since it was triggered welland canal territorial dispute of the Diaoyu Islands / Senkaku between China and Japan. In the agreements arising from the rendition Japanese at the end of World War II, Japan was forced to do without offensive war means, and its defense ensured if necessary by the US. This presence of the aircraft carrier near China, is therefore seen as a show of support from the United States to its ally Japanese. Although officially it is exercise "routine" designed to "improve interoperability with local forces, readiness and response to crises, ranging from combat welland canal operations to humanitarian assistance," the presence of so many and so powerful aero-naval assets, did not fail to irritate the Chinese authorities.
The exercises began in the Andaman Sea, involving Malaysian forces, continuing after the South China Sea, through which about one-third of all global maritime traffic. The underwater platform area is also rich in oil, the target of disputes by countries of the region, such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan. These exercises may also be related to the recent announcement by China, the commissioning of its first aircraft carrier, welland canal recently commented on the Iron Bird, being a kind of "visual message" US, in order to put an side reassure allies in the region and on the other to remember "emerging powers" that the scales are still unbalanced something to his claims.
