Maintain leadership in global shipping our country, though, in recent years, the share of the Greek owned goes slightly decreasing, it remains at a safe distance from other major maritime powers. This success invites, of course, and reactions, at least from a multiplicity of publications over the last two years, primarily from German newspapers, the fiscal status of Greek shipping. trimac
According to the annual report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which in conjunction with the database of HIS Fairplay process data for the global commercial fleet of 1.000 gt and above, the Greek merchant marine reserves, and in 2012 , a leader in global shipping by capacity (dwt), with Japan following in second place and five to complete the Germany, China and Korea.
In particular, the Greek shipowners control 3,321 ships, with a total capacity of 224.051.881 dwt, and holding 16.10% share in the global fleet, which consists of 46 901 vessels with total capacity 1.518.109.503 dwt.
It should be noted that, in 2010, under the Greek owned fleet had "market share" 16.17%, while in 2008, before the crisis occurs in shipping, their share was 16.81%. The change does not, however, of considerable importance, given the necessary business actions.
Over time and depending on the situation in the industry, the Greek owners trimac 'out' many times before as vendors in order to reap profits by selling ships, building high value of vessels and other times when the prices have dropped, converted buyers. In second place is Japan with 3,960 ships (more than Greece), total 217.552.902 dwt capacity and market share of 15.64%. And the Japanese lost a small percentage share, and in 2011 was 15.76%, in contrast, however, to 2008 was 15.58%.
In third place in the global ranking is owning German, with 3,989 ships, trimac with a total capacity of 125.626.708 dwt, and a market trimac share of 9.03%, slightly lower than in 2010 (9.17%) and 2008 ( 9.08%).
In fourth place is the new rising power, China, with 3,629 ships, with a total capacity of 124.001.740 dwt and 8.91% market share increased slightly from 2011, which was 8.63% in 2008, which was 8 , 18%.
This world leader, however, Greek shipowners trimac seem to bother some European circles especially, who, for the last two years, often cause publications mainly in the German trimac press, as yesterday, the "indemnity" in respect of the tax status of Greek shipowners.
