He was born on March 4, 1952 in Vođenica, near Bosanski Petrovac. Baptismal name was Rajko. Seminary finished umanastiru Krka, where he became a monk on 20 September 1971, taking the name Chrysostomos. A week later he was ordained to the rank hierodeacon, and two years later in hieromonk. He studied at the seminary at the Aristotle track trace University of Thessaloniki from 1976 to 1980, when he graduated from the Theological Faculty in Belgrade. In the period of 1981-1991. he worked as a teacher and educator in the Seminary of the Holy Three Hierarchs in Monastery Krka.
In 1991 he was elected the first bishop of the Diocese of the newly formed Bihac and Petrovac. On 13 September 1995, was expelled by the Muslim authorities Alilje Izetbegovic from their residences in key, and on October 10 the same year, was expelled from the territory of his diocese. On his diocese returns on February 5, 1996, after the start of the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. Temporarily stayed at the monastery Klisina in piles, until the fall of 2002, when he returned to the seat of the Diocese of Bosanski Petrovac.
